La Thuile

On the border where Italy and France meet and in the shadow of Mont Blanc, La Thuile is a great place to learn to snowkite. With over 150 kilometres of piste and perfect for beginners and intermediates as this is not a hugely busy resort in terms of lift queues and nursery slopes.

The snow kiting is located up on the St Bernard Pass (2,188 m) and the area has been specifically prepared for snow kiters and is the only one in Italy that can be accessed by ski lift.

The whole area is dominated by the Mont Blanc mountain range where the wind required for kiting ever lacks. And the great news is that kiters can safely surf the snow, doing tricks, flying up and down the fantastic slopes.

Our snow kiting school is able to look after both beginners and more expert kiters and if you want to get into kiting on water or just brush up on your technique out of season, snowkiting in La Thuile is the perfect place.

The resort of La Thuile is a mixture of the traditional ski village and the modern Planibel complex. Virtually undiscovered by the UK market, the 150 kilometres of ski area can cater to most abilities, with a range of nursery, intermediate and advanced runs suitable for skiers and boarders as well as heli-skiing for those that want a bit of adventure. On top of this, you can also ski into France, enabling you to try out two countries in one day.

For those that want to try snow kiting, Snowseeker are the first UK Tour Operator to offer this as part of our standard program. For those that want to try it, we can now offer snowkiting holidays in Switzerland, France and Italy.

For those that want to know more, snowkiting uses a kite to tow you on skis and snowboards using the force of the wind by kite to travel miles in total freedom. It’s important to remember that this sport will not always take place in the centre of a ski resort and in some cases you'll need to get a transfer or ski out to the appropriate area, however this is usually a matter of minutes to get to the snowkiting are and if transfers are required, we can organise this for you.

The schools we use have developed over the years with teaching methodologies and practices that enable all those who have an intermediate level of skiing or snowboarding. Very similar to Kitesurfing, you’ll just need a smaller kite, such as a foil or a 3 metre inflatable.

We do offer a selection of courses starting from taster sessions, right through to 2 days tuition and kite hire for the rest of the week.

Simply call or email us with what you think your requirements will be and we'll do the rest. With must lessons based on a course basis over a few days, some of our schools also offer trips out to kiting areas by quad bike and helicopter at very reasonable rates.
