COUNTRY INFO

Canada, probably the one destination that everyone would love to ski and snowboard. With some of the best skiing in North America, it offers a truly breath taking experience in terms of spectacular scenery and excellent skiing.

Nothing quite beats doing one of the many Olympic downhill runs in Banff and reaching the bottom with that massive sense of achievement, and with flights to Canada from the UK to most airports, the ease of getting there has never been better. At Snowseeker, we'd recommend it to those looking for a longer ski holiday of say 11- 14 days. This way you'll get the maximum amount of benefit from this stunning country and also give yourself the opportunity to hire a car and enjoy a day trip to down town Calgary or elsewhere.

With Banff being one of the few destinations in North America where you'll actually still see the Native Indian people, and mountain men walking round your resort in their Stetsons, Canada is that place which gives you just that little bit more than a ski holiday.

In terms of the snow, it's something we've experienced and heard a lot from others is that the texture of the powder feels very different to Europe, very much like ground down flour, riding off piste becomes quite a surreal experience and is probably due to the much colder climate, with temperatures far below zero.

Unlike Europe, a lot of the ski areas are an hour or so outside of your resort and are accessed by ski bus which look just like the greyhound buses of modern American lore. Your lift pass will include these transfers.

On each transfer, you'll see scenes that look like they are right out of a nature TV programme, offering the amateur photographer in you the chance to capture some stunning images.

As for the standard of the ski resorts and hotels, you'll find excellent hospitality and a real care that you get the best holiday service you could imagine. You'll also note that well known US brands like Starbucks are present, so you'll always get that morning latte to kick start the day.

For those of you that want that little bit more out of your ski-trip to Canada, heli-skiing and cat skiing are available, just specify what you want on our enquiry form and we'll get straight onto it.
